Skelton Plant Hire Ltd have recently invested in JCB excavators.  Supporting British engineering is an aspect of our ethos and growing focus towards investing in products manufactured in our home market.  What better time to buy into this product now that Brexit is upon us and we pull together to support our own economies?

JCB have remodelled and completely redesigned their Mini Excavator range to align the product alongside the tough competition already in the market place, predominately of Japanese origin.  SPH have added the 5 Tonne and 6 Tonne offering from JCB, namely the JCB 48 z-1 and JCB 55 z-1.  These are a true Zero Tail Swing machine which does what it says on the tin; no rear overhang at all, and adds another dimension and offering from our plant fleet in this size range.

Both of these models are high specification and include an Air Conditioned cab and Stereo CD/Radio for the operator.  Hose burst check valves and ram guards are present on all hydraulic lift cylinders along with fully automatic Hydraulic Quick Hitches; LED lighting and key pad security linked to Live Link Telematics for on site safety and security which is a theft deterrent and also prevents unauthorised use on site.  This systems allows us to ring fence the location and restrict operating hours, another added benefit that we can offer our clients.

We trialed these machines before our investment and put them out on both self drive and with our own operators at the controls.  The feedback was positive and it was indeed pleasing to learn that the engineering, build quality and drivability has come on leaps and bounds from previous offerings from this manufacturer.  The serviceability from our engineers’ point of view is always taken on board too, once again this was encouraging.  The extended service schedules mean less downtime for the machine and a lower cost of ownership which translates into a cost effective investment for Skelton Plant Hire and value for money hire rates to our clients.  Coupled with JCB Live Link, which enables us to monitor and diagnose the machine from a desk top, it minimises the amount of site service calls which are costly to us and inconvenient for our clients.

To highlight our support for the Best of British we have signwritten these machines in the Union Jack emblem, we are proud to offer this brand in our ever growing hire fleet and look forward to receiving more of these models in the forthcoming weeks.
