Here at Skelton Plant Hire HQ, we have all our fingers crossed that we have seen the last of the dreaded rain. During the recent weeks it has caused damage and devastation across the country, but as we look to the future, we are grateful of a few things that we have got lined up to lift our spirits and gather the communities throughout the South East.
As some of you within the farming community will already know, and be eagerly preparing for, Wednesday 5th March brings us Kent’s annual Agri-Expo Show, at the Kent County Showground in Detling. This show was started in 2011 and has gone from strength to strength over the last three years, with support from manufacturers, plant and machinery dealers, farmers and agricultural societies increasing each year. It has become one of the must see events in the agricultural calendar. At the show you will find demonstrations of various kinds of plant and machinery, from well known manufacturers such as John Deere and JCB, along with trade stands dedicated to business development and training and education within the agricultural industry.
Kent Agri-Expo 2013
Last year TV presenter Kaddy Lee Preston was the official Trade Stand Judge, this year, the title has been given to Mr Steve Hook, some of whom may know him better as “Moo-Man’! Steve has been farming with his son Phil on their organic farm in Hailsham, East Sussex since 1991, but comes from a long line of farmers that go back 250 years. Steve and his farm are the subjects of a British Documentary Film, filmed over four years, about the struggles of keeping his organic dairy farm afloat in the face of the power of our nations supermarkets. The film, Moo-Man, had its premier at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and competed in the World Cinema Documentary category. At the show, he will have the difficult task of choosing the best trade stands for various categories before presenting the lucky stands with their prizes.
This is a great day out for anyone who is interested in the farming world. Skelton Plant Hire have a stand again this year and would be delighted to see as many of you as possible. Bring your questions about our plant, or simply come for a chat and a cup of warm soup!
We look forward to seeing you there and making the show even more of a success than last year!
